The Mediating Role of Mindfulness Facets in the Relationship between Depression Symptoms and Obsessional Beliefs among University Students

The more you are more judgmental and interactive with your negative inner thoughts and feelings, and the more you are less aware of what you are doing at this moment, the more you will definitely bring about anxiety, depression and uncomfort to yourself. The present study aimed at identifying the mediating role of mindfulness facets in the relationship between depression symptoms and obsessional beliefs. The study tools were administered to 500 male and female students at the Faculty of Education, Assiut University. The tools employed in this study included The Five-Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ), the Obsessional Beliefs Scale (OBS) and Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II). The results of the study indicate that acting with awareness and observing mediated the correlations between depression symptoms and obsessional beliefs (importance/control of thoughts).
